In 1995, 34-year-old Zhu Qinglong resolutely gave up his secure job at a state-owned enterprise, a position he had held for 13 years. With his wife, younger brother, and a colleague, he entered the automation startup boom with 30,000 yuan in start-up capital, a second-hand computer, and an old van. Facing opposition from relatives and friends, he had only one belief: "Wherever automation is needed, that's where I'll go!" At the time, Governor Fu Xishou personally received him.
In the early stages of his business, Zhu Qinglong focused on the beer automation field. He led his team to develop a "beer saccharification and fermentation intelligent fully automatic control network system," but faced repeated setbacks due to the company's small size. To open up the market, he spent a whole month at a brewery in Lu'an, Anhui, personally handling everything from debugging to training, ultimately winning over the client with quality. In 1998, Tsingtao Brewery launched a nationwide tender for automation systems. Zhu Qinglong led his small company of only four people, defeating more than 30 competitors, and won the Tsingtao Brewery No. 4 Plant project! That year, Governor Xu Zhonglin took a photo with Zhu Qinglong on the lawn of the White House in the United States.
In 2004, Zhu Qinglong made an even bolder decision: to acquire the nearly bankrupt Hefei Electric Machinery Factory. At the time, China's large submersible pumps were entirely dependent on imports. He vowed, "We must ensure that Chinese pumps have their own 'heart'!" He then led his team to overcome challenges such as 10kV high-voltage insulation and the structural design of large units. In 2010, they successfully developed a 4000kW large submersible pump unit, with head and voltage levels exceeding international standards, ending my country's reliance on foreign suppliers for drainage equipment in thousand-meter-deep mines!
In 2023, Zhu Qinglong faced a monumental challenge—the Luanshya copper mine drainage project in Zambia. This mine, 1200 meters deep and containing 170 million cubic meters of water (equivalent to 13 West Lakes), was considered an "impossible mission" by global peers. Zhu Qinglong led his team to develop a 4500kW intelligent submersible pump with a five-in-one control device, setting global records for multiphase flow drainage height, power, and sand content. This successfully revitalized the Xinhu Coal Mine, a project with a total investment of 5 billion yuan and annual profits of 1.7 billion yuan. In May 2024, the President of Zambia personally launched the drainage ceremony, and the Chinese pump resonated powerfully on the African continent as a "project of the century." In 2025, his team customized five submersible pump units with the world's largest flow rate of 2200 cubic meters per hour for the world's largest copper mine in 50 days, showcasing the speed and power of Chinese equipment.
As a representative to the 10th National People's Congress, he was photographed with Chairman Wu Bangguo. He enjoys special allowances from the State Council, has won four provincial and ministerial-level first-class science and technology awards, has been personally received by four governors of Anhui Province, and has been featured in numerous reports by central media outlets such as Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, China Nonferrous Metals Industry Corporation, provincial media, Anhui TV, and Anhui Daily.
Today, Hengda Jianghai is a national manufacturing single-item champion enterprise with 220 patents. Zhu Qinglong has never forgotten his original aspiration to serve the country through industry: in 2025, he donated 13 million yuan, bringing his total donations to over 20 million yuan, actively giving back to society!
From brewery automation software to the "national heavy pump" that conquered three major century-long projects, Zhu Qinglong has used 30 years to exemplify the core responsibility of Anhui entrepreneurs—not following or imitating, but using a Chinese heart to build world-class pumps!
